Texas police chief charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for using Taser on his wife



Wait...the police keep telling us that Tasers are not deadly weapons.

CENTERVILLE- A Central Texas police chief is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly using a tazer on his wife.

Former Oakwood Police Chief Oly Ivy was arrested Monday in Palestine on a warrant for that charge. Ivy was dismissed from his official duties Monday in a special city council meeting.

City council members report that Ivy is accused of using a tazer on his wife. The accusation surfaced after his mother-in-law reported his wife's injuries to the Leon County Sheriff's Office. Deputies then put out an attempt to locate buletin for Ivy. Anderson County Deputies arrested Ivy near Loop 256 and West Oak Street.

Ivy is in the Leon County Jail on $100,000 bond.

"Mr. Ivy is taking these allegations very seriously," said Charley Johnson, Ivy's Attorney. "Our intent is that he be treated the same as anybody in this situation."

Johnson also hopes to lower Ivy's bond Thusday. Ivy has been Chief in Oakwood since February 2, 2009.
